First tip: Recommended by a well-practised homeopath based in the nearby town of Montpellier: pure lemon juice, straight from the squeezed fruit. He says it's the only thing one should use for one's baby. I haven't tried it yet as my six month old doesn't seem to be quite there yet. But hope it will work rather then all the creams and stuff I've been told to use...
Second tip: dried and peeled marshmallow root sticks. I bought a piece of roughly 10 centimeters(3 inches) long from a herborist. Baby chewes on it to his hearts content. My baby has had one for one day only and holds it much more then any teething ring, or any toy. He just doesn't let go of it.
This IS however a plant with medicinal uses and the recommended daily intake should not be to high. It says on E-How: "Cutting the root into 3-inch pieces should not exceed that amount and should also allow your baby to have a few sticks throughout the day. - The reason for a recommended dosage for marshmallow root is because of its natural ability to eliminate toxins and it aides in the cleansing of the body. It is also a natural diuretic" ... so as with any other remedy, take time to do your own research on this before offering it to your baby.
Good luck with the teething.
