Baby blanket “Big Red Apple” – Couverture pour bebe “Grosse Pomme Rouge”

This apple theme blanket started off by using fabric from a second hand girl's dress. It’s a cute red apples print on a white background.
The dark and striped background material is a piece of Fairtrade handwoven cotton.
The main red apple design is cotton from the Indian quarters in South London.
I used the cotton from the little dress for the hand-stitched edging.
The backing is a beautiful piece of vibrant purple Fairtrade handwoven cotton.
For the middle layer  batting I've used a piece of chenille-type sturdy cotton.
The overall effect is nicely graphic, soft to the touch, and suitable for many uses from baby to young child, in a crib, car seat, pushchair, and always as a child comforter.

Cette couverture avec un motif de grosse pomme rouge a demarree lorsque j’ai découpé le tissu d’une robe de petite fille.

C’est un joli motif de pommes rouges sur fond blanc.

Le tissu sombre et rayé est un morceau de coton tissé à la main, issu du commerce équitable.

Le motif principal de pomme est fait en coton rouge que j’ai trouvé dans le quartier Indien du Sud de Londres.

J’ai utilisé le coton de la petite robe pour faire la bordure, cousue à la main.

Le verso est une pièce vibrante de coton violet, issu du commerce équitable également.

Et pour l’épaisseur du milieu, j’ai utilisé un coton chenille très costaud.

L’effet final donne un résultat graphique très joli, doux au toucher, utilisable pour le bébé comme le jeune enfant, dans un lit, un cosy, une poussette... C’est également un objet rassurant pour un enfant.
